May 15 - North Rim of the Grand Canyon

We had never seen the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. And little did we know that May 15th was the opening day of the season....and the place was filled with visitors.

Alexa is perched out on a viewpoint taking in the scenery...thank goodness for the substantial rail.


Apparently the campground at the North Rim is booked six months in advance, and that is against our free spirited camping philosophy. Unlike Zion, where we lucked out and got a cancellation space, Alexa's charms were to no avail up here. We therefore camped at De Mott Campground nearby. Sadie is either standing guard of our camp site or has been freaked out by the high country squirrels.
