May 17 - In transit - Are we in Arizona here?

We left Holbrook, Arizona -- petrified forest desert land -- and started on our way to Silver City, New Mexico. Soon after stopping in ShowLow (named for a card game to determine who got the ranch that the city was on), we started to climb into some mountains. The mountains became more and more forested. We stopped for lunch at Luna Lake in Alpine, Arizona. Bugs that looked a whole lot like mosquitoes kept us inside the rig but we still this unexpected respite.
