5/16/08 Fishlake - best plans go awry....
We left Capitol Reef and headed up to new territory for us, Fish Lake, Utah, which according to one local in Loa (yes a Hawaiian named town), was the prettiest thing she knew of. The books said it was a combination of an alpine and aspen lake environment at 8800 feet that would wow our senses.
The road, highway 22, ran straight into Bryce Canyon from the north. And we see this big plume of smoke right where Bryce Canyon was suppose to be!
Fortunately, when we arrived, we found that there was a controlled burn. We set up camp at the famous Ruby's Inn and RV park (circa 1920's). Tomorrow a trip down the Navajo loop trail that was closed last year.
