July 2 -- Leaving the desert to Sisters in the Mtns.

We head west on Hwy 26, leaving the desert with its volcanic rock to the mountainous forest near Sisters. Alexa met a great woman in Layton Ut on our last trip. After her husband died, she went out into the wilderness and lived by herself for two years.

We were disappointed with the tourist jam in Sisters and the forest was hot and crowded. Smoke from forest fires gave everything a smoggy haze. Here we are at the headwaters of the famous ________________ River. It just gurgles out of the ground and in no time is a real river.
