Fall 2011 (Sept 1 - 12), Chico, Lassen, Lake Almanor
Matt and Leah begin their adventure in Forensic Anthropology at Chico State University.
Good eating at their poor man's Frank Lloyd Wright abode tucked in almond orchards just outside Chico. Temperature in the mid 90's.
We get to Manzanita Lake Campground in Lassen Volcanic National Park. Temperature in the mid 70's with cool evenings -- great camping.
On to Summit Lake.
Our campsite had a nice view of the lake.
Beautiful lupin type flowers blooming away in early September (6700')
Mount Lassen from Summit Lake.
Mount Lassen from the top -- lots of snow left.
Lake Almanor
We camp at a great campsite in a Forest Service campground near Lake Almanor --- but apparently we didn't take any pictures of the campsite's vista.
We journey up to where locals around Lake Almanor go --- Juniper Lake.
Did someone say "Squirrel"?
Matt and Leah join us at Lake Almanor for the camping weekend. We are learning the Marchenko family card game (not from Russia but from the Midwest) -- Euchre.
